Daytrip to the historical Stone Town (World Heritage Site)
Let the ancient Arabic palaces and the exotic melodies of the muezzin inspire your dreams while you wander through the narrow and winding alleys of Stonetown. Listen to the stories about centuries that formed this unique melting pot of Indian, Arabian and African cultures. Come and visit the beautifully decorated House of Wonders, become a witness of the barbarous history of slavery at the former slave market and soak up the lively atmosphere of the colourful and exotic market.
After noon, you will enjoy the views of waterside Stonetown on a 30 minute boat ride to Prison Island , just off the Zanzibari coast. Get close to the giant turtles populating the small island. Ages ago, their ancestors were brought here from the Seychelles by trading voyagers.
The reef circumjacent the island offers great possibilities for snorkeling.
Jozani Forest Tour
Come and absorb the natural wonders of the few remaining acres of rainforest on Zanzibar, being home to some endangered animal species. On a daytrip to Jozani Forest you might be lucky to spot some of the rare Red Colobus monkeys populating the green clutter of trees, shrubs and leaves. The thickness of the forest is best explored on the well established nature trail.
Spice Tour
Countless fruits and spices of tropical Zanzibar are best experienced during a stunning tour meandering through the wide plantations spread out on the island. Guided by an experienced Zanzibari you will learn more about the growing and processing of nutmeg, ginger, cardamom and other exotic spices. Especially the large plantations of cloves and the aromatic fragrances surrounding the homesteads are typical for the “Island of Spices”
